Identity brainstorming

Being grouped for allocation of activities/jobs:

Every group was asked to write down three key words that best described their group idea and then we came together as a whole to figure out the similarities between all of them to try and come up with the over all idea or vision for the market.

After being put in to our own section we were then grouped with neighboring groups that we will be working closely with and referring back and forth with each other to create the best possible outcome and solution for the market. We have teamed up with group 17 to work on the portraying of the market and how this will be done.

Brainstorm for our creative direction:

We were grouped into creative direction- focusing on the identity of the market palace and how to portray it.

CREATIVE DIRECTION!

The final jobs were displayed in an interactive brainstorm and we placed number twelve on jobs we felt we were most suited for. Amongst it all we wound up with the creative direction role! Team 17 was also given this role so we began working with them to develop and brainstorm what the branding will entail and what is most important to convey though our naming, logo and brand essence .

Reflecting on what the makers want as the theme and asthetics

A3 Ideas on main themes chosen by the makers:

Cardboard precedents :

The feed back from the makers referring to the facilitators presentation is that they like the concept of way finding and cardboard isles of some sort, Also layed/ differing heights of stalls around the market. We began experimenting and researching how this would be possible or how it would work as it is a difficult layout concept.

Some questions:
  • Its strength and durability
  • how would it all be connected sustainably
  • i.e. not using to many resources fro example celotape
  • Pack up and pack down. Would take a lot of people power and time to successfully instal and uninstal.
  • Rubbish?
  • Resources i.e. where to find enough cardboard

working toward presentaion

Working towards our presentation:

Potential Music:

Possible music for Creative Canvas video presentation
- We wanted to find some exciting music that would get the audience to listen and as we would be one of the last groups it was important that we had something different to brighten things up and get the attention of our audience. Also didn't want words to distract them from our video that we had made.

Speech ideas:

For our speech these are some possible thing to include…
Money- NZD everything $5 or under.
Getting the point across that we want it to be an experience for the consumer and has their input and it's not just over the counter trade. So for example say decorating the top of a cupcake that your going to buy would come under the consumer putting in their own creative input…where as something such as the pizza roulette in which they throw a dart to get a pizza is an experience.

Final speech and presentation:

hey guys, so our idea for the market place is (as you can see) a creative canvas. our pitch is for an interactive, creative morning with lots of hype and fun. To keep things easy we want to keep the currency new Zealand dollar .This encourages freedom for walk ins from the public. Our idea is that once the expenditure is paid back all money raised would go to a chosen charity.
We want the morning to be alll about experience, the art starting from the outside and working its way in. After consideration of your guys pitchs to us last week we think it would be an awesome idea to have a graffiti wall as well as one other interactive piece of art outside creating a hype which would entice people inside. Once inside we envision a live band, music, bean bags, places to relax and to take in the surroundings.
In terms of the market stalls we were wanting to make everything as interactive as possible with items for purchase, food and drink and incorporating some of your guys awesome ideas such as diy cupcakes creating interactive activities for people to do including your guys ideas for example a posit wall water ballon art and b asically a chance for the general public to have a go and bring out their creativity. We want to not only showcase masses creative flare but make it a morning that is for all students and as well as course open to the public to maximise the success and potential of the market.
As a creative campus we don't want any plain over the counter trade but for a place to meet new people, collaborate amazing art and to take away an experience rather than a nick nack you will never use again.

Looking at what activities we will have to do as facilitators:

As an entirety we ( the facilitators) began to develop a brainstorm of exactly what the market palace will entail and how many different groups and roles are needed. The size of the work and people power needed became clear as more jobs evolved.

Makers Ideas

Makers presentation of ideas:

Makers presented to us many different ideas. We then used a sticky dot voting method to vote for our favourite / most effective concepts and ones we feel would relate best to the market palace.Began brainstorming and developing our concepts for presentation for week four.

Immediate conclusion:
We acknowledged immediately that the makers concepts are all broad and varying greatly. This played a strong part in our in our concept for presentation as we felt every maker and group had a different take on the market palace brief

Initial concepts were that of food festival inspired by all different cultures.
Creative arts gallery i.e. make the market a show case for coca student art.
Refurbish? recycle and sustainability as the main inspiration or direction of market palace.
Wanted a relaxed atmosphere with areas to mingle and to network.

Entry / currency wise our thoughts were to donate all proceeds to a chosen charity or have a charity donation box upon entry.Feel as though swapping produce and or product may not be successful as it will mean people have to arrive with something to swap and there is no freedom to walk in.

Final concept for week four presentation is the creative canvas. The market palace is a pure empty canvas and it is our job to create and mild it into an effective event. ( see week 4 post)
